About Me

My Photo
Hi there, my name is Claire, in June 2011 I moved to Tanzania, East Africa. For the first nine months I volunteered at a baby orphanage where I managed 36 staff and up to 54 babies. Within those nine months I became a Mummy to three very beautiful children, Selemani Adam who is three years old, Nancy Irene is two and B is 18 months, life is busy but full of fun. As from March 2012 myself and my partners Michael and Dorris Fortson are starting a baby home named Neema House. We plan start our work in rented accomodation whilst we buy and build a site, we plan to take in and care for abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable babies and hope to return them to their families as soon as possible.

2012...wow what a year!

Dear Loyal Readers and Supporters,

I would like to start by saying that I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year, may 2013 bring you happiness and health. Here at Neema House we would like to thank you all for your continued support, whether it be financial, prayers, donations, volunteering etc. Without you none of what we achieved in 2012 would have been possible. 2012 really was amazing, we have managed to rent a property, start the orphanage, hire 26 staff and we have had 21 babies go through our doors with a further 9 we have helped in the village, isn't that just incredible?!?

Our first Outreach project started on March 22nd 2012 in Masai land where we helped to feed Franki, Lucia, Yacita and Meshack, this is a continued project! Franki & Meshack were also our first babies here at Neema House and Meshack made another first when he rejoined his family at the age of five months.

Next came Michael who was abandoned on a verander, followed quickly by our sweet Helena.

Then we had three on the same day our first set of twins Silvamus & Davis and Praygod, all three of these boys sadly lost their Mothers.

Number eight was sweet little Elliott, we had anticipated his arrival for a couple of months, Elliott was followed closely by Joel, at 18 months he is the oldest child we have accepted so far.

Then Zawadi was found lying at the bus station all alone so we accepted her, baby Baraka made eleven.

Angel and Angelous made twelve and thirteen.
Deborah, Anna and Esther who arrived in July as very fragile newborns, were officially registered to Neema House when their Mother left making 16 babies.
Jack (Innocent) found in a pit latrine (toilet) was next.

Frida and Joshua came together though sadly just a couple of weeks later little Joshua went to play in heaven,

A baby girl was next, Beaulah, then another boy, Ibrahim, made twenty one.

Along the way we also started to help Ayubu with his heart condition,
and Tumaini with her six sweet babies in Ndombo village.
So as you can see Neema House has had a very successful year, not even a year, we started in March!*! I myself am blown away by how quickly we have progressed and become a successfully functioning orphanage, it truly is amazing and it would not have been possible without all of you!

My aim for the beginning of this year is to introduce you to our staff, each member will have a blog about them so you know the amazing ladies, and a few men, who are doing such a wonderful job with our babies.

Once again I thank you so much for your support and I hope that you will continue to support us however you are able to in 2013.

Our hopes for Neema House during 2013 is that we will find land, start building and hopefully help even more babies and young children.

Much love from all of us here at Neema House x
